woops

Oh well ive gone and done it. after the suggestion from a crafty friend i decided to go and buy the simple homemaking magazine and then ended up in another shop where i bought sticker ribbons for 24p, decoupage for 99p and a cross stitch wildlife magazine. then detoured to another shop on the way home and got thicker needles for 59p.

i am now going to stop buying anything before a sale im going to at the end of april, think i could do that?

Also my hello kitty chart arrived today too which i got from ebay - so many new things lol xx

Card making

As well as cross stitch i do enjoy making cards so found that combining the two is even more fun, here are some pictures of the cards i have made.

This is my most recent card which i used the gorjuss pyramid die cut decoupage and the backing paper provided. I love the effect that it creates, think i will be using this style of card making for other cards. I found some light silver card and used a wooden stamp for the happy birthday sentiment and embossed. I am pleased with this as i have found card making difficult in the sense that i dont feel artistic lol.

This is a birthday card i have made for my partner using a cross stitch card design which provided backing papers and then used some peel offs for the happy birthday sentiment.

This is another birthday card that i made for my grandma who adores westies so luckily a magazine had a little design of one and i used some 11ct aida that i had spare to make the design bigger. The backing paper with the paws i found a while back and am so pleased i bought them as it works well. Again the happy birthday sentiment i embossed. (i quite like embossing).

Another birthday card that i used 11ct aida and changed the colours to fit what threads i own and got given the metalic backing papers which i think work well. and then layered it up with the card underneath the cross stitch.

Right thats me for now shall update with more later :)

More cross stitch completions

Thought i would continue this blog with the pictures of some of my completed pieces.

This bookmark was a present from my o/h's mum and this is the picture of the stitching completed however i had to stitch a felt backing and tassles which is now done but no picture of the completed project but i enjoyed this as the material was so soft not sure if its linen but something i have never used before.

This is a little viking kit i got and i think he is adorable :)

This is the valentins day card i made for my partner it was a joy to stitch however the backstitching had to go through some of my stitches and i ended up poking my fingers with the needle at times lol.

Another of my completed projects this was a free gift from a magazine and gave me the opportunity to give french knots another go, its funny some of them turn out massive but then others are small so no consistency there.

This is my most recent completed project. I love somebunny to love they are gorgeous designs but was nice to use some different dmc thread that changed colour as you stitched :)

Thats it for now in regards to my projects, my current one is a care bear design but knitting is creeping in so may be a while before that one is completed especially as it is a biggie xx

good morning

Good morning everyone and i now have five followers since starting yesterday, thank you so much :)

I had a dream last night about going to a fabric shop and buying yarn so i did and ended up with bargains - 500g of mixed fabric for £2.99 here is a picture.

Think that is enough to get me started with practicing my knitting technique. Shall have a go later and post my progress xx

todays antics

Instead of stitching today i have been very interested in knitting. i tried making a scarf using needles but didnt seem to work out well so was searching online and found that you can knit with your fingers. so gave it a go and here is the result:
It is very thin and not great wool but i think for a first go it came out well. even made the pom poms with my hands. so i have been looking for more things to do with wool so i decided to create a pom pom scarf however i changed it to a headband and put hello kitty badges on it. my o/h doesnt think it works but i shall see if i can make it better.

It does look like a rug on my head though.

Right this is my last blog for the day off to the land of stitching and will post more later :)

the beginnings of cross-stitch addiction

Thought i would start with pictures of the first few cross-stitch pieces, the first picture is the three i first started and then continued on. I have done more since then but just wanted to start from the beginning. After finishing my first kit i was hooked and still am.

day one of blog

I have never considered creating a blog before but since being off long term sick  i was introduced to the wonderful world of cross-stitch and now i am addicted. This blog isnt specifically for cross-stitch as i like doing other crafty related things however the majority of the blogs will be cross stitch as i tend to not have a day without cross-stitch involved. Hope you enjoy the blog :)
